Ode to a busy life

Ode to a busy life

The litter of life's possibilities
    can be suffocating at times
They creep into our souls
fill up our hearts and mind

They occupy our efforts
    dropping petals in our way
O how we seek to clear
    their clutter and dismay

But how O Lord to do this
    be faithful and yet clear
Responsible yet grounded
as we seek to find our way

The answer's not in future
    calculated from today
Carefully crafting actions
    lest we go astray

For truly efforts fail us
      if in our strength alone
Or lest we fail to realize
      who's really on the throne

For faithful are You always
     to realize our need
And understand how truly frail
    we really are indeed!

It's only in the present
    and by faith alone
Can we find peace and answers?
O yes! ... by faith alone

In the course of business

Travel is fun, to go places here, to go places there,
to meet new people, to know new things.
Yet strange it is that such a good thing
could turn yet oppressive in the course of business.

Yes business it is that makes it so dull
and fearful sometimes and terrible too.

In business of course, there is the must,
the ought, the need and even the should.
Still reason calls out, "Is there not an end?"
Yet unreasonable it can be as matters press in.

And here is the point that turns it most dark:
It isn't always sensible, noble and true.
It isn't always needed, wanted, and good.
Sometimes.. no often! It is as it is.

So stand up, take back your life if you can.
Consider the cost and create a plan
to do what is right, to do what is true.
'Cause staying at home can be good too!

While cleaning the garage

O onerous, the tyrany of things!!
they arrive so sweetly
then they lay so neatly
yet tyranous they grow

"Shall we get rid of this..
not yet.. not yet... not yet...
we might need it yet... one day.."
O brutish are these things!
